The words this product uses, defined once.
Meta's messaging rules and the agent world both come with their own vocabulary. These are the terms you will meet on this site and in the dashboard.
- MCP (Model Context Protocol)
- An open protocol that lets an AI agent discover and call tools on a server. dmswift's MCP server, at https://app.dmswift.com/mcp, exposes your Facebook Page and Instagram account as tools. See MCP server.
- Agent action
- One write call made with an API or MCP key, such as publishing a post or replying to a comment. Plans include a monthly number of them; reads never count.
- Comment to DM
- Answering a comment with a private message to the person who wrote it, usually alongside a public reply. See Comment to DM.
- Private reply
- Meta's mechanism for sending one private message in answer to a comment, within seven days of it. It is how comment-to-DM works on the official API.
- 24-hour window
- Meta allows a free-form message to a person only within 24 hours of their last message to you. Outside it, nothing is sent.
- Human takeover
- Taking a conversation over in the inbox. Automation and agent replies pause for that contact until it is handed back.
- Campaign
- An automation rule on a channel: a trigger (comment, DM, story reply or mention), keywords, and the public reply and private message it sends.
- Channel
- A connected Facebook Page or Instagram professional account. Plans are sized by how many channels they include.
- Scope
- A permission on an API key or OAuth connection, such as posts:publish or inbox:write. An agent only sees the tools its scopes allow.
- Approval mode
- A setting on an agent connection, "Ask me before anything is published", that holds every publish for the owner's approval.
- Daily cap
- A per-connection daily limit on publishes, comments and private messages (15, 30 and 100 by default) that stops a runaway agent.
- OAuth 2.1
- The sign-in standard Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients use to connect to dmswift without you pasting a key.
- Instagram professional account
- A business or creator Instagram account. Only these can be used through Meta's API. They connect directly with Instagram Login, or through a linked Facebook Page.
- Merchant of Record
- The company that legally sells to you and handles payment, tax and invoices. For dmswift that is Dodo Payments.
