Comment moderation

A clean comment section, without reading every comment.

The same pass that answers a matching comment hides the ones you do not want under your posts. It hides rather than deletes, logs every decision, and lets you undo any of them.

What it catches

  • Link-shortener spam and comments that are nothing but a link.
  • Follow-back and giveaway bait.
  • All-caps floods and repeated characters.
  • Profanity, and every word on your own blocklist.
  • An allowlist always wins: a word you allowed is never hidden.

Why hide instead of delete

A hidden comment disappears for everyone else, but its author is not notified, and on Facebook it stays visible to them and their friends, so there is nothing for them to argue about. You can unhide it from the log in one click.

What it is, honestly

The classifier is lexical and whole-word, not an AI. That makes it predictable: the same comment always gets the same decision, and the log says which rule made it.

From your agent

With comments:read an agent lists comments on live posts; with comments:moderate it can hide, unhide and delete them. Replying under a comment needs comments:write and counts toward the key's 30 comments a day.

Frequently asked questions

Does it delete comments?

Automatic moderation only hides. Deleting is a separate, deliberate action, from the dashboard or by an agent with comments:moderate.

Does it work on old posts?

It acts on comments as they arrive. Older comments can be reviewed and hidden from the comment list.

Can it moderate Facebook Group comments?

No. Meta does not give Page apps that access to Groups.
